About River Gallery School

The River Gallery School has been providing in-depth arts education for children and adults since 1976. The school, with its studios in the heart of downtown Brattleboro, Vermont, has become a community resource and a center for the visual arts. The basic philosophy on which the school was founded remains the underpinning for all our teaching: We seek a balance between preserving each student’s natural creativity and providing the skills and discipline necessary for deeper expression to unfold. Classes emphasize individual process and creativity, employing a variety of media and techniques.
It is the policy of the school to make it possible for anyone with a sincere interest in attending classes to do so. To this end, the River Gallery School Board of Trustees works in a variety of ways to raise funds for scholarships. These include work-study programs; seeking individual friends, donors and grants; as well as holding a series of fundraising events, which include the annual auction and benefit concerts.
